St
Pancras railway station is a major railway station opened in 1868 and celebrated for its architecture. In December 2007 the stationed opened to the Eurostar, providing high speed transport between London and the Channel tunnel in 2h 15 minutes. The rail link took 13 years to complete, comprises of 68 miles of high speed track, 152 bridges and 16 miles of tunnel. Hidden beneath the platforms are 62 shops, cafés and restaurants giving this station a cosmopolitan feel.
Pascall+Watson architects where involved with the full refurbishment of the existing Grade 1 listed 'Barlow Shed', along with the new north facing rooflight station extension canopy and with all areas to the refurbished undercroft area. It was extremely important that the station kept it's original charm, with the entire west side of the building being rebuilt with facsimilie Victorian arches. St Pancras combines historic conservation with the technology to ensure that a truly modern transport link is provided.
